MARIA CALLAS PERMANENT EXHIBITION

OLYMPIA theatre, foyer

The permanent exhibition “Maria Callas”

is hosted in the foyer on the first floor

of OLYMPIA Municipal Music Theater “Maria Callas”

in Athens city centre,

at the old premises of the Greek National Opera.

 

Some of the great diva’ s personal items,

now belonging to the collection owned by the City of Athens,

are at show,

narrating important moments of her life

and significant aspects of her work.

 

The design’s main aim was to create a micro-environment

for the visitor to feel as if the exhibition itself

has always been part of the unique and historic OLYMPIA theatre.

 

The power, uniqueness and glamour of Callas

are reflected in the atmosphere of the exhibition,

which, although “petite”, offers

a variety of visual and informational stimuli to the public.

 

The exhibition was inaugurated on May 20th, 2019

on  OPANDA’s initiative,

with the support of the Maria Callas Greek Society.
