This is “an étude”
of how the new permanent exhibition
of the Athens National Garden Museum
could look like.
It was created on the occasion
of preparing the museological study
for the redevelopment of the museum,
as part of the rehabilitation studies
of the Garden’s historical buildings.
(It will not be implemented as such,
due to current legislation.)
The “étude” proposes the presentation of
the history of the Garden,
on the ground floor
and the creation of a dual herbarium,
both scientific and educational,
on the first floor.
a late 19th century atmosphere
on the one hand
and offering a highly interactive, hands-on
herbarium experience on the other,
are the two main axes of this “étude”.
the proposition successfully overcomes
the problem of a tiny space,
in which visitors may get acquainted with
almost 200 years of the Garden’s history,
as well as study over 500 plant speciments.
